From 2008 onwards EXP24 devised and ran a number of regular filmmaking workshops from our new base at East Street Arts Patrick Studios. These workshops aimed to demonstrate the relative accessibility of the Super 8 format and encourage new filmmakers and seasoned professionals alike to come together and share ideas.

Organisations and people we worked with included Leeds College of Art and Design (LCAD), Leeds Film Quarter, Leeds Independent Media Exposition (LIME), Light Night, Lumen, Screen Yorkshire/Short Circuits, Hull International Short Film Festival, The Hyde Park Picture House, East Street Arts, The Moor Music Festival, Slack Video, Ladyfest Leeds, Ways of Looking Festival Bradford, Sector 16 (Germany), Lightcone (France).

Workshops covered the history and development of various film formats, introduction to the Super 8mm camera, hand processing and darkroom techniques and splicing/creative projection. In 2008 we delivered a Super 8 workshop jointly with Hannover based film collective Sector 16 for Leeds International Film Festival. More info here:
